September marks the heart of Costa Rica’s green season, but here at Crocodile Bay, the fish don’t seem to notice! The inshore action this month has been non-stop, with several incredible days of double-digit roosterfish and an endless stream of snapper bites. While the weather brings occasional afternoon showers, the mornings remain sunny and calm, providing our guests with perfect fishing conditions.
One of the reasons anglers love Crocodile Bay is that you get a unique blend of adventure and variety. Few places in the world offer the chance to target both offshore and inshore species on the same day. Whether you’re reeling in roosterfish along the coastline or chasing giant yellowfin tuna offshore, every trip is packed with excitement. Speaking of tuna, the Osa Peninsula is quickly earning a reputation as the yellowfin tuna capital of Central America. We’re encountering multiple schools of porpoise daily, often accompanied by monster yellowfin tuna, giving our anglers multiple chances to hook and land these powerful fish.
September also marked a special milestone for us as we hosted the first annual IGFA Passport to Fishing event for the local kids in our community. This event was a wonderful opportunity to teach the next generation about the importance of conservation and responsible fishing practices.
We set up different educational stations to show kids the right hooks to use, the best tackle for various species, and the protected species that must be released. The highlight of the event? Watching the kids cast their lines from our pier and experience the joy of releasing their own fish—it was truly priceless!
Looking ahead to November, we’re already getting excited about the blue marlin action. Over the last few years, November has brought an impressive number of blue marlin into our waters. These majestic fish are often found chasing smaller tuna or patrolling current lines, looking for baitfish.
